Holiday Projects
Digesting a Story - This lesson guides students through a lesson focused on setting and writing composition. You or even the class, bring in holiday props to create various settings in the classroom for students to incorporate into the lesson. This is a great way to work on those writing skills. In the K-2 classroom, this could be completed as a verbal or written story. For verbal, students can take pictures and read their story over the pictures in iMovie. For written, you can use any tool you see fit.
Christmas Timeline for Children - Students delve into research in this project as they discover the history and timeline of Christmas. Resources are provided but you can easily add as you see fit! The end product is the creation of a timeline. Students can use Notability, Pages, or Keynote to create this project. This could be a fun class project to practice sequence!
How Much Will My Christmas List Cost? - In this project, students list everything they want for Christmas, estimate how much it will cost and then research the actual prices. If you choose to place the numbers on the iPad, you would use Numbers or Google Sheets rather than Excel.
Acrostic Christmas Poems - This site offers a lesson (PPT) for Acrostic Poems. Students or the entire class could create one together on a Keynote presentation. Each slide would represent a letter of the word spelled. (Ex. S - A - N - T - A would require five slides in Keynote)

Teacher Tips
This tip is brought to you by Amy Booker who is the Resource Teacher at Van Duyn Elementary.
I wanted to share a good website that I found to practice flashcards on iPads. They have all 4 operations and you can customize them with how many you want to practice, what fact you want to practice, and how hard you want them to be. I've been using this with several students and they seem to really like it so I wanted to share. The website is aplusmath.com.

Sometimes I have assessments to give but not enough time to work with everyone individually or in a traditional setting. So, I have used Kahoot in small and large groups to gather assessment data.
The Bonus? Students have fun doing it AND the quiz is there for me next time or next year!
