In the high school prep period workshops, several teachers asked about how to easily download videos, how to create videos on the iPad, and how to create videos on the Macbook. This newsletter will focus on just those questions as well as EdPuzzle. It has become more frequent that videos from YouTube in the EdPuzzle library are blocked. The following information provides the solution to this problem.
Downloading an Educational Video from YouTube for EdPuzzle
(to avoid YouTube videos in EdPuzzle being blocked)
Be aware of what you are downloading. Be sure that it is safe, free to use or royalty free educational content.
- Start at www.youtube.com and search for the specific video you want. Open the video and pause it.
- Click in the address bar once. This will highlight the address blue. Click again in the address bar right in front of the "y" in youtube.
- Add "ss" in front of youtube so it looks like this www.ssyoutube.com
- Hit Return/Enter on your keyboard. This will take you to a new website. You will see blue and gray dots moving on the screen.
- You will eventually see options under the Download button. Click only on the MP4 360p.
- In Chrome, the download will start immediately. In Safari and Firefox, you will be asked to download.

- Log In to EdPuzzle
- Navigate to the My Content Tab
- Click on Start
- In the drop down menu choose Upload Video
- Once this processes, you can choose to edit the video to add the questions.
- Upon completion of editing, you can assign the video to specific classes.

- Open Quicktime Player by searching in the upper right (magnifying glass)
- File → Screen Recording
- A small black rectangle will appear. Click the red record button.
- You will have two choices now. If you click on the middle of the screen, the entire screen will be recorded. If you Click-Hold-Drag you can choose the specific part of the screen such as the left hand playing portion of a Keynote or PowerPoint.
- When you are done, you will find the stop button at the top of your screen.
Creating Videos on iPad Using Showme App & Firefox on Macbook
PREP WORK
Create a showe account and login to the account on your iPad App.
On Your Macbook, Open Firefox.
Go to this website.
Click add to firefox green box and then click install when the prompt box shows up.
You will be asked to restart firefox.
You may need to then go to View->Toolbars->Customize.
Once there, If your download helper icon (three colored circles) is not in the upper right of your screen, you will need to drag and drop from the customize screen.
Once you have done that, you are ready to use the ShowMe App on your iPad.
THE STEPS
Step 1: Create video using Showme App on iPad

Step 3: On macbook, go to showme.com USING Mozilla Firefox and login
Step 4: Click on the video you want to download.
Step 5: Look in the upper right, that three circle icon should be moving.
Step 6: Click on the little drop down arrow to the right of this moving icon.
Step 7: Click on Download
Step 8: You will be prompted to download. You can now choose where it goes.
Step 9: Go to EdPuzzle.

Step 11: In the upper right, click on create and upload video.
